General Questions

  • What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?

    CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring compound derived from the cannabis plant. CBD has many benefits in humans, and is often used to promote a feeling of wellness or calm. Unlike its cousin THC, CBD does not get you “high,” and is a safe and non-addictive substance. More information about the history and uses of CBD can be found here.

  • How does CBD work?

    CBD works through its interaction with the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is primarily responsible for maintaining homeostasis in the body. Just like Goldilocks, our body doesn’t want its temperature to be too hot or too cold, blood sugar levels too high or too low, and so on. Cannabinoid receptors sit on the surface of cells and “listen” to conditions outside the cell. When these conditions become out of balance, the ECS kickstarts the body’s response and bring us back to the Goldilocks zone. The ECS has been shown to help maintain homeostasis in a huge range of bodily functions, including those tied to sleep, stress, memory, inflammation, appetite, metabolism, the immune system, the cardiovascular system, liver function, skin health, reproduction, pain, reproduction/fertility, exercise performance, and more.

  • What are terpenes?

    Terpenes are a class of organic compound found in a variety of plants, fruits, vegetables, herbs, hemp and cannabis. Referred to as “the smell molecules of the world,” terpenes provide both smell and flavor which is why they are a major ingredient in essential oils. Terpenes have many therapeutic benefits of their own and affect the absorption of phytocannabinoids. For example, the terpene linalool is responsible for both the smell and calming effect associated with lavender. The terpene limonene is found in the skin of citrus fruit and is associated with the antifungal and antibacterial properties of citrus extracts. AMMAs products contain over a two dozen beneficial terpenes.

  • What is Broad Spectrum+?

    Broad Spectrum+ is a new designation for hemp-derived products created by AMMA Healing. Until Broad Spectrum+ was invented, there were three main categories of hemp-derived products: Broad Spectrum, Full Spectrum, and CBD Isolate.

    Broad Spectrum+: AMMA Healing’s extraction method is designed to remove 100% - yes all - THC from our products without the use of solvents or heat. This preserves all of hemp’s other beneficial compounds in their natural form, unlike other Broad and Full Spectrum extractions which damage these compounds. This perfected method means you are getting the maximum benefit possible from a safe, pure product. It’s a difference you can feel.

    CBD Isolate: This extract is 99-100% CBD only and removes all of hemp’s other beneficial compounds including THC.

    Broad Spectrum: This extract removes THC and contains some or all of hemp’s beneficial compounds including CBD. However, most Broad Spectrum extraction methods involve harmful solvents and/or heat degradation of the beneficial compounds claimed to be in the final product. This means that the product is less effective and may be full of harmful chemicals.

    Full Spectrum: This extract contains all of the hemp plant’s beneficial compounds including both CBD and up to 0.3% THC. Similar to Broad Spectrum, most Full Spectrum products suffer from similarly flawed extraction methods involving harmful solvents and heat degradation. In addition, the presence of THC can cause unwanted psychoactive effects and cause the user to fail drug tests that check for THC.

  • What is the Endocannabinoid System?

    The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a complex collection of cell receptors, discovered by researchers in the early 1990s. Experts are still exploring the full significance of the ECS, but so far we know it plays an important role in regulating many functions, including sleep, mood, appetite, immunity, metabolism, and memory.

    The ECS is primarily responsible for maintaining homeostasis in the body. Our bodies naturally produce endocannabinoids which work with the ECS to regulate our bodies and support homeostasis. Our body doesn’t want its temperature to be too hot or too cold, blood sugar levels too high or too low, and so on. Cannabinoid receptors sit on the surface of cells and “listen” to conditions outside the cell. When these conditions become out of balance, the ECS kickstarts the body’s response and bring us back to homeostasis.

  • What is the Entourage Effect?

    The Entourage Effect is a description for the phenomena in which the spectrum of cannabis compounds work synergistically to provide greater benefits than each compound individually. Each unique strain of the hemp plant contains a variety of beneficial compounds, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. While each of these compounds has benefits when consumed individually, the entourage effect proposes that when combined together, the resulting benefits are much greater than the sum of their individual parts. This is why AMMA’s products contain over 140 of these beneficial compounds, all working together to promote maximal healing.

  • What is Nano-emulsified CBD?

    Nanoemulsions are an advanced delivery system designed to improve the absorption of beneficial compounds and decrease any side effects.

    Nanotechnology is proven in numerous published scientific studies, researched by pharmaceutical companies and so far over 60 nano drug applications have been approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Nanoe-mulsified CBD is created by exposing CBD to ultrasound waves, as a way of making the CBD particle size much smaller. This decreased particle size allows CBD to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream via the mucous membranes of your mouth and esophagus, and allows you to begin feeling the effects much faster. Normal CBD tinctures are absorbed in the small intestine and need to pass through the liver. This longer absorption process results in less absorption of the product, and can take between 30 minutes and 2 hours for you to feel the full effects.

  • Will CBD get me high?

    No. The cannabis plant has two main cannabinoids: CBD and THC. THC is the cannabinoid associated with the feeling of being “high,” while CBD is non-intoxicating and has no unwanted psychoactive effects. All of our products contain 0.0% THC, and are certified by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment. So while AMMA’s products will not show positive for tetrahydrocannabinol, as with all hemp products*,* there is a chance that consumption could trigger a positive drug test*. Y*ou should make your own decision in consultation with your doctor or employer if this is a concern.

  • Will AMMA products appear on a drug test for THC?

    Likely not, but we are legally unable to confirm the outcome of any drug tests while using our product, and individuals should always exercise caution if they are concerned about triggering a false positive result. Recreational drug tests are testing for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC, THC-COOH, or its metabolites). Because all AMMA products contain 0.0% THC, they will not cause your test to show positive for tetrahydrocannabinol.

    Barry Sample, Senior Director of Science and Technology at Quest Diagnostics, the largest administrator of drug tests in the U.S. has stated “[T]here isn’t going to be a laboratory analytical false positive confusing CBD with a THC metabolite.” However there is at least one 2012 study showing that outdated lab tests could not differentiate THC and CBD with 100% accuracy. So while AMMA’s products will not show positive for tetrahydrocannabinol, as with all hemp products there is a chance that consumption could trigger a positive drug test and you should make your own decision in consultation with your doctor or employer if this is a concern.

  • How do I use your product?

    Hemp Oil: Balance

    Using the dropper, drop the proper amount of oil under your tongue (the correct amount for your particular product is listed on the bottle). Wait 30 seconds to 1 minute to allow the phytocannabinoids to absorb sublingually, which allows for faster absorption. Swallow and let the oil work its magic.

    Salve: Soothe

    Apply AMMA Salve to the desired area of the skin. Only apply the salve topically, do not ingest it, and keep away from the eyes and mucous membranes.

    Nano Soft Gels

    We recommend taking the curcumin and melatonin soft gels together—one in the morning, and one in the evening. Our formulas combined are designed to work synergistically to provide a perfect daily dose of wellness.

    Curcumin: Take one soft gel daily in the morning

    Melatonin: Take one soft gel daily before bed. the timing for taking the product depends on your goals. If you have trouble falling asleep, then consume 30-45 minutes before bed. If you are a night owl who wants to begin falling asleep earlier, then consume 1.5-2hrs before bedtime. This product will work more effectively when combined with proper sleep hygiene. You will want to avoid eating or drinking (especially alcohol) close to your bedtime. Your sleep will also improve if you limit exposure to artificial light (especially from TV/Electronics) before bed. Finally, you want to sleep in a room that is completely dark, and set to a cool temperature.

    ELEVATE Hemp Elixir:

    We recommend a serving size of ~0.4ml/20mg for each beverage. That can be measured using the graduated dropper from the 15ml bottle, or via 2 full pumps from the 60ml bottle. However, serving size is completely up to you and should be tailored based on desired taste and effect. Feel free to experiment and find what works for you. Our team been known to make a 'double' now and then :)

  • How should I store my product?

    Our products are designed to be stable in a fairly wide range of environments, but should be kept away from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. You should also store your CBD in an airtight container (like the packaging we provide).

  • How long do your products last?

    Our products are certified for a minimum range of 18 and 24 months from the time of manufacture. The expiration date for your particular product is printed on the package.

  • What is a Certificate of Analysis? (COA)?

    A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is a document from an accredited laboratory that shows you exactly what is in a product, including the quantity and ratio of various cannabinoids and possible contaminants. COAs are critical to proving what is in your product and its potency. Because there are no regulatory standards currently in place, companies are not held to truthful reporting about their products. This means that many products are commonly mislabeled! A 2017 study of 84 different CBD products found that only 31% were accurately labeled. And, even if labeled correctly, low quality CBD products contain heavy metals and pesticides. Make sure the COA tests for these contaminants so you know what you are putting in your body! Most importantly, you want to ensure the COA is conducted by a third-party.

  • Is your facility certified?

    Absolutely! AMMA Healing is fully committed to 100% quality and only giving you the best of the best. That’s why we are fully compliant and licensed with the 2018 Farm Bill, the Colorado Dept of Agriculture, and are ISO, GMP, and GPP certified, EU licensed, and FDA-registered. We know that’s a lot of letters, but it really just means you know exactly what you’re putting in your body, and can trust the safety and efficacy of all our products.

  • What makes your products different?

    You can think about AMMA Broad Spectrum+ as the cold-pressed juice of hemp extract, with the broadest range of natural plant cannabinoids and compounds, and 0.0% THC. We use a cold-process and all-natural binding agent to remove any THC. No harmful solvents are used, leaving our products free and clear of residual chemicals. AMMA Broad Spectrum+ preserves the integrity of all the plants’ natural compounds, providing optimal healing.   • Where do you source your products?

    All our products are grown at 5,000 ft. elevation, outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Our entire crop is harvested by hand, and then processed at one of our two facilities in Colorado Springs or Pueblo, Colorado.

  • What is your extraction method?

    We use a cold and closed-processed supercritical CO2 extraction with no external additives. We use a patent pending refinement process to remove 100% of the THC, while preserving minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. We make the “cold-pressed juice” of hemp oil!

  • Are your products all natural?

    You know it. None of our products have more than a handful of all-natural ingredients*, just the way nature intended.

    *Our Nano Soft Gels with melatonin currently use food dyes for color. But don’t worry, we are in the process of eliminating them!

  • Do your products contain artifical sweeteners?

    No way! Our Mint flavor tincture contains Stevia leaf. Our health-conscious consumers prefer Stevia to other sweeteners for a few reasons. First, it is a natural plant extract, not an artificial sweetener. It has a glycemic index and load of zero, meaning it does not impact blood sugar or the body’s insulin response. This is perfect for our diabetic customers, or those who follow a ketogenic diet. If you prefer a product with no sweeteners at all you can try our lemon tincture or Nano Soft Gels.

  • Are AMMA products Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free?

    All of our products are non-GMO, organic, gluten-free, and dairy-free. Additionally, all of our products are vegan, except for our soft gels (but don’t worry, we are working on a vegan version that we will release soon).

  • Are AMMA products lab tested?

    Yes. All AMMA CBD products are tested by our third party lab, Cannalysis, for potency of cannabinoids and terpenes, THC, pesticides, mold, heavy metals, and other contaminants.

  • How do I change or cancel my order?

    Because we pride ourselves on shipping orders super fast (within 1 business day), all orders are final. However, we will do our best to accommodate any changes requested within 1 hour after placing the order, and if requested before 8pm CST. If you want to change the address, contents, or just cancel your order, email support@ammahealing.co and use the subject “ORDER CHANGE #[Your order number]”. In your email, include your name and the change you’d like to be made. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but once we have begun fulfilling your order it may not be possible to make changes.

Subscription Questions

  • How do I create an account to manage subscriptions?
    • Note: After your first subscription purchase, you are emailed a unique link with which you can manage your subscriptions without the need for an account. However, we do recommend creating an account login.
    • If you did not yet have an account when you first subscribed, you will receive an account activation email with which you can create a password and finish account setup. If you cannot find this email, you can create an account as normal here and it will automatically be tied to your subscription profile.

  • Can I use discount codes with subscriptions?
    • Some codes are compatible to discount the first order of your subscription. To apply a discount code, look for the link underneath your items, above your subtotal and click to enter it.
    • These often will simply make up the difference that you would have paid using a code while checking out normally. For example, a 20% off holiday code can be applied to make your first subscription order 20% off instead of 15%, saving you the trouble of returning later to make the subscription. However, it will not compound the 20% holiday discount on top of the 15% subscription discount.
    • Note that due to limitations in the third-party subscriptio n software, any discount codes applied with both subscription and non-subscription items in the cart will only apply to the subscription items. To apply a discount to the non-subscription items you’ll need to check out separately.
  • Can I checkout with some items normally and others as a subscription?
    • Yes! You will only be subscribed to items that you added to your cart using the subscription option. Items purchased using the one-time price will only be charged and shipped once.
  • Can I add more items to an existing subscription?
    • You can easily add new products to your upcoming shipment directly in your account page.

    • Search and select the product you would like to add to your account.
    • On the following page, you can make product and charge adjustments. When finished, click Add Product.
  • How do I skip an upcoming order?
    • You may need to skip your next subscription order. This is useful if you have a lot of product currently or will be away on the next delivery date, but still want to stay subscribed on your normal schedule.
    • Start by logging into your AMMA account, then click Manage Subscriptions OR use the unique subscription management link emailed to you after your first subscription purchase.
    • Click on Delivery schedule in the left-hand menu to see all upcoming deliveries for your subscriptions. To skip a delivery, click Skip to the right of each order. You can also Unskip the same way.
    • If the particular order you want to skip has already been charged to your card, then shipment is imminent. Please contact support@ammahealing.co as soon as possible including, "URGENT" in your subject line. If your card has already been charged, we cannot guarantee that we’ll be able to halt the order with the fulfillment center, but we will do our best to have them stop the shipment.
  • How do I change my subscription’s delivery schedule?
    • You have maximum flexibility to decide your own delivery schedule, literally down to the day.
    • Start by logging into your AMMA account, then click Manage Subscriptions OR use the unique subscription management link emailed to you after your first subscription purchase.
    • Click on Delivery schedule in the left-hand menu to see all upcoming deliveries for your subscriptions. To change a delivery, click Edit to the right of each order.
    • Now you can edit both the date of your next charge/shipment and the delivery schedule. Just remember to Save after editing each setting!
  • How do I cancel a subscription?
    • We understand that at some point, you may need to cancel your subscription, even temporarily. True to our AMMA ethos, we make this as easy as possible for you.
    • Start by logging into your AMMA account, then click Manage Subscriptions OR use the unique subscription management link emailed to you after your first subscription purchase.
    • If you no longer want to continue your subscription, simply click the Cancel button next to the relevant item(s).
    • You can resume your subscriptions at any time by clicking Reactivate on this same page.
  • How do I update my payment method and/or billing address?
